  • Cleaning the carpet, buying a new one, dyeing it??

Any way to REALLY clean the stock carpets? My grey carpet is far from perfect but i think its only stains that make it look so bad. Any way to dye it or get it really clean? I would love black carpet!

Any where to buy new carpet online?

I was able to get a used carpet from another car. I threw it over some saw horses in my driveway and hosed it down. Hit it with some Greased Lightning and scrubbed it with a brush. I did this 2 or 3 times. No matter how many times you do it, dirt will still be in there and not all the stains came out. But it is 10 times better than the #$@! I pulled out of car when I got it. I didn't spend $130, just a saturday cleaning it. Time is money, money is time.

do a search this has been covered before. there is a great shop online that has the carpets in just about every color of the rainbow and in 3 or 4 diff textures. i'm too lazy too look it up right now, but i'll be posting a FAQ soon to answer alot of these more common questions.

What about renting or borrowing a steam cleaner / shampooer like you would use for the carpet in your house ?

thats an option, but i never liked those renter steam vacs, don't work that great. i'd take it to an auto detailers and have them steam clean the carpet. they are the pro's at getting out stains and they have the heavy duty specialty equipment and chemicals to do it.

I'll look for the link as I type...but there was a guy with a late 90s Escort who needed to clean his carpet and he took it out and went at it something like this:

                      -removed carpet
-used a wire brush to remove grit and crud
-sprayed it down with simple green
-let it sit for a while
                      -wire brushed again
                      -rinsed off crud
                      -repeat until clean
-then let it sit in the sun for a day to dry
-then he dyed it with an interior dye
-then he put it back in the car

Here's a link from the Saturn forum for a guy who used Resolve carpet cleaner...
