  • opperation door panel

so ive been trying to come up with some ideas for a couple weeks now on the festivas door panels, i want a bigger arm rest and power windows, and a speaker in the door.... so onto the questions

other than the 89 accord arm rest, what have you used for yours?

what would you think of the s10 setup, just were the buttons go the arm rest and that bulge under it to be molded to the door

    a quick rendering

just something else i came up with

lmk what you think, feel free to shoot out ideas

I like your ideas. I don't know the feasibility but anything is possible with work. I hope you work something out!

thanks, what im wanting is something functional and that will hide the shaft for the window crank at the same time that way when i get the power window setup it wont have the shaft just sticking out of the door with nothing over it, and if i went with the s10 option i could use the factory switches to actuate the windows

i guess something just way custom would be plausable...but im still learning the art of the customizer....

I spend all my time trying to make things simpler, more accessible or lighter and here you want to gussy-up a door with all kinds of stuff. Why don't you consider putting in fully electrified adjustable and heat-able leather Cadillac seats. Sure fire way to have to invest in a bigger alternator and tag on a few hundred pounds.

im not going for bigger is better, i just want to be different, something that will look good and has good function, just something to tinker with to make it look better than just a plain grey door panel

But you have to admit the Festiva door panel is bs.. Seriously a piece of cardboard with some vinyl and screw some arm rest on and go! I could see how custom panels would be cool. Somebody made some carbon fiber ones not too long back but they were heavier than the stock ones so it was kinda pointless but still different.

yeah, im not to to worried about weight, but that was my thinking on something already sorta made up a little so i dont have to weigh it down with alot of fiberglass, probably go to the yards tomorrow to see what i can find, if anything catches the good ole eye

The Accord armrests like I used on the DeathEgg can also be had with PW switches, so that may be something to look at. But you'd still have to block the hole for the window crank.
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.
