looks great. I know with my red gauges in my porsche i cant stand them on at night though. Driving for over 30 minutes your eyes get tired from the glare of BLUE lol.

dash lights drive me nuts at night. gotta turn them all the way down. same thing with flashy radios... who needs swimming dolphins on their dash anyway? the nakamichi head unit i have on the way for the cougar doesn't have any of those bright flashy graphics, just 24 bit da converter and a swithc to completely shut off the face lights lol

Long ago on my '76 Chevette, I hated the bright green signal flasher lights, which weren't affected by the panel brightness control. So I took off the rather simple gauge face, removed the green cellophane from the arrow holes, and made a set of red hole covers by using a red magic marker on thin white cardstock. It worked real well.
When I had an '81 Civic (still miss it--my Festivas remind me of it a bit--back when Honda used to "make it simple") the blue high beam light was another nighttime annoyance. I simply cut a small square of black electrical tape and stuck it in the appropriate spot. That did the trick.

yeah the high beam indicatior is usually a pita as far as i'm concerned. I'm really tempted to run new gauges in my cougar because of the bluelighting. to match it i bought autometer cobalt 1's for the triple pillar pod, but i have a feeling i'm gonna regret it. on the up side i believe you can wire autometers through the dash dimmer switch... some of those gauges though, like the cobalt 2 series are just hazardous lol. we'll have to see how much they annoy me after i get the car back from the shop, hopefully i don't end up buying red digital gauges and selling my autometers lol.

if the gages aren't red coloured, I can't stand them being more than modestly dim. I hate that almost every decent head unit out there is bright bright blue.

well check out the nakamichi's they are a hell of alot better than alpine, clarion, ect, 24 bit d/a converters compared to 1 bit, reference quality cd playback and the option to shut down the faceplate at night. it doesn't have any dumb graphics or useless features, it's pretty barebones but for 350 the only competition in a used rf platunim made by dennon (and thats only a 20 bit d/a). or a $1500 used mcintosh (drool). the nakamichi cd400 or cd500 .
