    What is a good, safe way to splice the clock wirein' into the radio wirein'? Don't really want to cut the radio's wires , don't trust myself when i get a sharp instument in my hands. I go crazy!:eeeeeek:
    If it don't fit, use a bigger hammer!

    Should be fairly straight forward. Have you read this thread yet?

      Yep. Iwant to know , cut the radio harness wires or is there some other way to do it. that is safe & reliable. I got my clock harness all made up.
      If it don't fit, use a bigger hammer!

        I don't know out of experience but splicing into the radio harness shouldn't be unreliable at all as long as you make the connections good. You could use some butt connectors with the heat shrink. Maybe others have some ideas as well

            That's what I use when I have to tap into anything for power and will keep the splicing a lot cleaner then pigtailing everything.

                    I don't use "scotch locks," half the time the connection is weak, and a little jiggling/vibration will cut the connection altogether. Until I get a project worth buying solder for, I'll stick with the good ol' black tape and razorknife.

                      Solder for a permanent fix. Scotch locks are an easy fix but my auto teacher back in the day told me they were garbage and to not use them so I don't, but other members love them. Rj puts everything in with scotch locks. They cause alot of resistance in the connection itself.

                        It's. Very easy to use an exacto knife to strip the insulation off the wire without cutting it, then you stick the knife through the strands and twist a little in order to make a hole and slide the new wire into it. Twist the wires together, solder and tape. This is the only reliable, durable and permanent way to tap into existing wires without shortening them. It works best on larger wires like the ones found on the ignition switch (for remote start applications) but is very good on the radio wires you're using.

                        If you need any more encouragement to invest in a soldering iron, they can be had for less than $20 at harbor freight or your local RadioShack.
