  • interior question

i have a 93 I'm redoing. its has some heavy scratches to the rear plastic sides along the rear seat area and in the cargo area. i suppose someone was hauling something a bit to wide and that's how it just marred.

now I'm wondering what can be done, whether those pieces all can be removed easily and then try and find others. or whether it can be painted over, but not sure that it would last or look decent. any ideas? thanks

    Re: interior question

Yes they can be removed, and I'm thinking like rhino coat or something to that nature might hold up.

Ya it's the coating they use for pick-up truck beds...alternatively AutoZone sells a small variety of interior spray paints, but I've used a couple and they tend to flake & scratch at the slightest touch.

I 've forgotten what brand I used before, but as I said it just comes right off with wear. Does the satin spray form a durable protective coating, or will it perform the same with wear & tear?

Yeah, you can remove em, you just need to pull the back seat out, and then do the seat belt bolts. they fit right back in easy. You can kinda do em with the back seat in, but its easier if you remove the seat. I upholstered over mine but they can be painted too. If you pull em its a good time to do any sound system stuff, like running RC jacks or just speaker wires.

Thanks guys! I've been wondering what I could do about mine as well. I'm not sure what the previous owner did to it(and I've owned the GL since 98) but I don't think they were very nice to it.

rhino coat the floors? paint the lower part of a car/suv with it? dont
shops just spray the stuff on. i didnt see it listed for sale by itself.

i wonder how the 50 dollar enamel paint would hold up on the
cargo area. anyone time tested it?
