  • New Towbar Put On

So I bought the towbar off ebay(paid 63.00 and free shipping) and got it in. The towbar is really made of heavy metal and is very sturdy and easy to use and comes completely assembled. If you need company's name or name of towbar, pm me if yu have any questions. Here is what I had to do to put it on. Took bracket that hooked to car and etched outline on bumper. Put them 3" from turn signal. Cut plastic, behind plastic was two inch foam which I had to remove to get to metal frame. Drilled holes where needed. I had to use spacers so the bracket stuck out enough to hook towbar too. I used heavy 1/4 flat iron cut to size of bracket and had to get 4 1/2 inch bolts to go thru bracket and spacers and go thru front metal frame and also back metal frame. I also used 1/4 flat iron to go on back bolt and then put washer and lock washer and tightened down nut. The bracket is plenty solid and since I only plan on towing car if it breaks down or if I make it back to one of festiva's breaks, it will hold great. I am also going to make plastic caps to go over the brackets when not in use. I will probably hook it up this weekend and tow it and let you know how it handles. Here are picts of the process:

Ok, hooked the little car up to truck and went out on the road with it. Im happy with the way it tows. Got up to 60 and it just rode right behind the truck like a charm. Well worth the money.

I guess it's safe for the transmission to tow a Festiva? Mine's a manual transmission and I'm thinking about installing a towbar since I may have to travel in the company truck to different jobsites and would like to have a personal vehicle with me.

Very nice! I wanted to do that with one of mine so I have a chase car when going out searching for interesting vehicles. If the new toy has a hitch just hook up my car and go home!
