Carbon Fiber Hood Wrap...

this actually turned out better than i expected. took my brother and i about an hour and a half to get it finished. pics below, let me know what you think...(it's the stock festy hood, fyi)

Looks good! Does it go any faster now? Hopefully those hood pin top washers don't peel it off.

it feels like a good 5 hp boost with the new hood! haha. i plan on padding those with a rubber grommet so they don't go berserker.

You should do the whole car CF wrap! People will want to know where you got the $$$$, what kind of engine is in it and how fast it is! :p

(If you do this, I'd put on a "Lockheed Skunk Works Stealth Racing" sticker. Oh, and a "TOP SECRET" one too!)

Are you able to put clear coat on top to give it the gel coat type of look? I think the wrap looks great on interiors but not the outside. You did a great job on that hood, not trying to take away anything from your efforts or the result.

That actually looks pretty stellar. I'll admit... not a huge fan of wrapping things myself, but I think... for what you wanted out of it... that looks fantastic!

I love it! I have an extra faded yellow hood behind the tool shed. Maybe I'll paint the underside black and wrap it in carbon fiber! That way I could always go back to the stock painted hood. I think it would also be cool to wrap an extra rear hatch as well. You could cut out all the inner supports and replace the rear window with light-weight clear plastic as well. Then you would have some weight savings to go along with the carbon fiber look.

getnpsi might have a good idea in coating it & not for just looks(i like it myself) but for protection against the elements.

@blkfordsedan, i was thinking about wrapping the top of the car and leaving the hatch be. as cool as it would look, i think it might be overwhelming.
@kumalaba, i was thinking about laying a couple coats of lacquer on there, but i figure a good armor-all'ing every couple weeks she should be good.

i got the material off ebay, here's a link (http://tinyurl.com/carbonwrap) to the roll that i actually got, and from there you can find what you need. the guy also has a clear transparent carbon, and a white carbon vinyl. i got a huge roll, so i could market that off to folks around here.

^^^you can pull this stuff up and it leaves absolutely no residue (that doesn't easily peel off) so you can wrap straight onto a lacquer coated finish with no worries of tarnishing your finish. i had my hood flat black already, which i think offers better adhesion, so it would stick better.
