I've removed the rear seats in both of my cars. It takes about 10 minutes. The biggest trick is getting the rear belts off. Those covers are on there really tight, and the only way I've found to get them off is brute force.

Massive pic of my car from the rear, with the seats and belts removed.

There are plenty of bolt holes in there for mounting stuff.

I took the back seat out of my daily driver and since 99% of the time I'm the only one in the car I don't miss it a bit. It makes hauling stuff alot more easy too

I tried it before and had some 12's in the back, the seats arent that hard to pull, its just them seat belt bolts. I imagine we have a few here with the seat out. With it out you have a good amount of space to play with to fabricate something. You could fit a good system with 12's or four 10's. You going to try it? When you get that back seat out its good to pull the front too and re-carpet the car. I just did myself. It requires some cutting but it makes a whole lotta difference. What are you planning for yours?

I think the rear seat weighs about 37 pounds, didn't it? Hell, the rear seats are out of all three of mine. An LX split seat is going back into my '93GL though. The other two shall remain "backseatless."

I cut my own carpet, I can be a real pain, but I did it. With about 6 yards of carpet you can do it. You just gotta be patient with it and use some real good glue. I have done my carpet 2x now in about 8 yrs. Its good to do the headliner too when you get those seats out.
                  Have you recarpeted it yet?

I put the seats back in my stiva and aspire.. it helps soak up the road noise.

When I had my 1995 Aspire, I took the bottom cushion out of the back seat and laid the seatbacks down flat. This way I didn't have the bottom cushion in the way when I put the front seats all the way back or if I wanted to recline and take a nap in it. Made for a great courier delivery vehicle that way. Put the seat back in when I got rid of it.

I'll probably do the same to this 1991 Festiva (if the guy ever returns my calls)
