Hey guys i made door panels an id like to share with you how i made them....
what you would need:
1. oem festiva door panels or what ever base you would like to use i just took the pleather off mine down to the cardboard...
2. fiberglass mesh or cloth what ever you perfer..
3. liquid hardener
4. resin
5. sandpaper
6. a strechy pourious piece for fabric thats bigger then your door panel. i think fleece worked the best...
7. staples an a staple gun
8. fiber board an cardboard
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
well first i stripped the pleather of my flat door panels an removed all the clips an put tape over the hole so nothing could get into it.
Then trace out how you want you door panels to look.. do you want raised speakers? do you want the door to hold tweaters neons ect...? draw it out on paper...
In this picture i decided to keep the handle the window crank an raise the speakers so the werent flush...VERY IMPORTANT put the panel back on the door an trace were the dash is so you know that area is supposed to be flat... i just cut different lenghts of cardboard to make the raises in the new door panel..
just make sure you staple everything down so it doesnt move on you i put a little resin at the speaker outlet an the cardboard so they didnt move..
Next when your good an happy with how the door panel will come out stretch the fabric over the door panels an staple all the way around it and in all the flat areas.
next step is to mix up your resin and soak the entire door panel
an wait for it to dry an lightly sand the whole thing so its a bit scratched up and repeat the porcess till it looks like this
if you still have low spots you can use bondo to flaten it out or the fiberglass to fix problematic spots.
This picture is good cause it shows one that the resin was dry one with bondo and sanded and my little center console 8in sub/ speaker modification lol
in this picture the both all sanded up for paint for what ever color or desine you would like here are the last few pictures of what i decided to do with them...
painted airbrushed an clearcoated
and on (project doomsday)
I hope you all enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed making these hope its useful to any of my festy fam...
