Dont forget to tape the backside with some kind of tape because it dosent hold the best. A razor to cut out the holes for the plastic tabs and you are good to go.

It just pops out with a flat head or a knife or something to get under it with.

mine is pitted really bad do you know how i can fix it? I would prefer to not sand it down but if i have to i will.

The little plastic piece around the lock? Your best bet would probably just grab better ones from the Junk Yard. Lots of older cars have them. I'm almost positive escort ones fit so you should have no issue finding them.
