That's quite a mission to fab up something like that. However LIMITED LTD production would surely draw a MASSIVE crowd.

Fantastic idea! How soon could you go into production?

While true you can do that, it would negate the idea of using lightweight carbon fiber by putting a single layer over your fiberglass.

Once you have a mold you can solely use carbonfiber of different weaves ( some are more for structure and others, due to the pattern are useless for structure but look wicked) depending on your application.

If you plan on making carbon fiber parts you are going to need vacuum bagging materials to ensure the resin penetrates the carbon fully. If you can swing it, it wold be advantageous to have an oven to bake the parts in once vacuum bagged. ( this is the most effective way but not totally necessary, setting the part out in the hot sun would do fine)

I myself have been looking into trying this but I haven't had the time or money to try.

        Hope this info helps.

I'm finding it hard to locate proper material without ordering online. The places that have it want to sell huge orders, and the places that make the stuff don't want competition...

You could try fibreglast. They do have a minimum orber of 10 yards but decent prices.

I buy all my fiberglass/resin from my preferred parts store , its a UNI-SELECT banner store.

250$ buys you a 80 yards of chopped strands 1.5oz (also offered by the yard)
160$ buys you a 5 gallons of resin and hardeners.
