I don't know if the low-fuel light is compatible with the festiva, with my 323 cluster (in my festiva) the low fuel light does light up at start up, but it does not turn on when i'm low on gas

I did not install the cluster a previous owner did the install many years ago (probably 6+ years ago) so i can't really help with what was needed wiring wise

        1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
        1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

I wouldn't think it would, there is no low fuel light to begin with in our festys. Just watch your guage and remember it's just as expensive to keep it full as it is to keep it empty!

well, look at it this way. The gas light was on all the time in the 7 because they are thirsty little cars, but it's on all the time in your Festy to remind you how much money you are saving on gas! Lol (look at life like your gas tank is half full).
