Suggested Paints, Bumpers

Well as the title suggests, what are some of the paints you have used to get a close to stock look (black, not body color)? Also does anybody with a white car have a picture with their original steelies painted black?

Did search found some usefull stuff but nothing exact.

On the bumpers, they were grey factory not black. So just try finding a nice grey that matches, key to painting plastic is in the prep, make sure it's cleaned and scuffed/sanded well, and use a adhesion promoter if possible.

^^Thanks, that's pretty much a carbon copy of my festy! It does look nice with black rims then.

Hmmmm, did you repaint your bumpers then? If so what kind of paint did you use?

I did take auto body so I do know a bit when it comes to painting, but I guess I was looking for exact color discriptions, to use others experience so I don't have to look for hours to find the right color, haha.

If your bumpers are bare plastic, you can "shine" it using either peanut butter or vaseline. If you use Vaseline, smear it on heavily and heat it slightly (or do it on a really hot day after the sun's been on it). The oils from the peanut butter or the vaseline will leech into the plastic, turning it black again.

I'm gunna post a picture tomorow, but it almost looks as if it is chipping off as of right now.

Use Dupli-color Bumper Coating, comes in black or grey. Its made for our type rubber/plastic bumpers. It has adheasion promoter in it. I just painted mine last week. I use clear Dupli-color Acrylic Enamel over it after it dried to make them shine & help protect them. See my pics in my Album on my Profile page.

I think I may have seen something like that when I was searching. It was from quite awhile ago and they said it was in a clearance bin at Wally world. I automatically assumed it was something discontinued?
