  • Metal Bumpers

I am intersted in making some bumper mods, but custom.
Here are some photos of ideas I have:

    These are the rear ^

These are some front ideas ^
I want to replace my current bumpers, but with those shown above you can see that they are way to expensive, so I was wondering if I could weld my own together and put them on my self - well I can (once I learn to weld) but in the legality area, would that be legal? Are there some kind of limitations or restrictions?
    Thanks

You should make them look like the police bull bars. Then you could do the spin out manouver.

Trust me I have really crazy ideas about the way they will look but I want to know what range of legal size they have to be.

I think anything that does not have spikes sticking out the front is fine.
        Heavy duty wrap only!

Nobody said you couldn't paint some spikes on...
The ones at the corners are illegal.

May I suggest aluminum? Bumpers of that caliber could effectively lower the vehicle an inch...

Theoretically the only thing a bumper has to do to be legal, is span the area in between the frame rails. That's what it is in MN anyway. I happen to know a few people who have used Oak planks for a bumper.

I also have a buddy who made his own bumper for his chevy pickup out of 1/4 diamond plate, then painted it black. He never had any troubles.

Ok - well my parents might help fund this project but they need proof ("official website") ans also do y'all think a exo roll cage would work?

An external roll cage is a cool idea... Not sure if its legal though. I bet it is in MI, just because everything is, lol.
