anyone put an oil pressure gauge,in thier festy? i dont want to get a gauge, that requires an oil line to gauge. any brands that fit and work well mdoyleufo@gmail.com

The mechanical kind (with line to the gauge) are the most accurate and dependable (as long as they're good quality). You can install a Tee fitting into the sender port of the block. Then install the gauge line in one side and the oil light sending unit in the other.

      ^^ agreed.

and if your not keen on getting hot oil sprayed inside the cabin you can run the line up through the fire wall to the vents in Front of the windscreen too.

some ppl mount it on the bonnet.
i got some pics here somewhere. seach i shall.

you can get quality copper line aswell that is MUCH better than the brittle plastic stuff that usually comes with them.
However if installed correctly ie use good plumbers tape on all fittings, avoid kinking and tape up the line around friction prones areas, they can be very reliable for some time. Having said that, for peace of mind I mounted mine outside the cabin...

All of you major brands offer electronic sender oil pressure gauges. Any of them should be just fine. It's 2012, get an electronic one, your not going to be pushing 120+psi of pressure, it should be just fine. Just make sure all your connections are well done and insulated. Ie, solder/shrink wrap

I had a mechanical oil pressure guage spray the inside of the MK 1 VW.

I vowed to run electronic ones. I use an Auto Meter pro comp/carbon fiber lookin' one in my Festiva.

Avoid the cheaper Equus guages, they wear out to fast, crack and fall apart from UV rays.

I've switched philosophies since I installed the electric auto meter. Electrical problems and connection conditions can give a false reading. From now on, I'll be using mechanicals with 1/8" copper line. That's how I did my last install in my Samurai. Works great! Even the cheap ones seem acurate enough to me. If you go electric, go expensive.
