I had rust in some areas, from where I sanded. Also I decided that I should primer my hood cause it was red.

    • You really should have removed your windshield wiper arms and taped off the black rubber around the windows.

I know it sounds picky, but it would be a huge difference in over quality of the work you are doing.

And don't forget to tape off the tail light openings. If you are going to spray it, the fine particles will get in and settle all over your interior surfaces.

                    • Looks like your gettin' pretty close to color.

Bodywork and painting are both what I consider the "get your hands dirty and try it" type of learning experiences.

You've done a lot of work with the material(s), tools, and location in which the work is being done.

                        • I think two quarts is plenty, I used two quarts but the first quart I poured out too much, so I'd say a 1/3 of it was wasted. I think if you only pour out a little at a time, 1.5 or 1.75 quarts is plenty.

                            I would agree.

But if you're not quite sure you could probably buy another quart, keep the sales slip, and as long as it's not opened or stained up by paint finger prints you should be able to return it.

Well if you get enough primer on it and you get rain you could always wet sand the primer outside during the downpour so it's ready for paint ..Kidding....

Just waiting for the "after" pics.

Remember, it's not brain surgery. If it don't turn out to your liking no one's gonna die, repaint it until you're happy.
