I am thinking - well, I will buy new carpet for my Festiva.
    I only have 2 questions
1: How hard is it to put in carpet and would I be able to do it my self?
2: Will this be what I need?

    Thanks

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Yep, that'll work. Ask if it includes back section, behind back seat. Thats cheap/inexpensive. Yeah you can do it by yourself, always easier with help. ^ He's a kid , what do you expect, restraint?

Ok thanks, I heard It would be hard due to the fact it could be glued in or nailed in... any chance of this happening?

I guess I have a bit of a bitter spot for newb's being impatient after the idiot "powered by honda" pulled his crap not that long ago, I'll only miss him from telling him off through PM's

KJX1463 - just a tip, if you ask "can I do this?" the first thing I think of is "how the hell would I know if you can change carpet or not?" so I choose not to respond to keep negative comments to myself.... Try asking your questions a bit differently and you may get better responses

^^then you could have asked just that "do I need any special tools to change the carpet?" which is something I would probably respond to

                Get my point?

You must cut all your own holes, including seat, seat belt, and shifter holes.
Some trimming around the outer edges is also necessary.

Paraphrased, this means, you will have to pull all of the plastic hold downs and find a new way to attach it to the edges of the carpet (probably rivets), after trimming. It would help to have a hple punch kit for the seat holes. It even tougher ir you have a console with a cubby. A 93 with a velcro patch is a challenge. You would have to remove your original patch and dye it black. Sometimes the mold is a tad high with respect to the seat mount points, so extra underpad would be required.
I like this carpet because I removed the rear seat and belts. It looks good without holes. Look forward to about a two hour install.

                      carpet

a good shampooing of carpet,i use spray can of upholstery cleaner. spray it on carpet, let dry ,then vacumn it up. i do it twice on dirty areas. after u do this,u might decide not to replace whole carpet. 1 step at a time. its a big job, replacing whole carpet. i dont know if u,could do it yourself? i allways shampoo a cars carpet first.thats good enough for me.

I replaced the carpet in my 95 Probe gt. I can tell you that it can be a hassle, but its worth it.

A few tips if you do replace it:

Razer blades, lots of them. ( to cut the holes)

Try to use the old carpet as a template for the holes.

If its sunny out, lay the carpet out in the sun to let it get warm and pliable. ( its very stiff when you first get it)

I didn't need any specialty tools to do my carpet but that doesn't mean you won't either.

                        Hope that helps!

The main thing I found necessary replacing my carpet was patience. Take your time. It wasn't technically challenging, but it was tedious. This being the first time, I was very methodical & it took about 6-1/2 hours. Again... first time. Lots of folks could do the job faster, I'm sure.

I made a big mistake by first tossing out my old carpet! Then I had to figure out where all the holes were supposed to go the hard way. Definitely keep the old carpet for the hole spacing & approximate dimensions. Your new carpet may initially fit differently than the old one... that is, the fabric hasn't stretched yet. Good advice about leaving the new one out in the hot sun for a while first.

Have several sharp knives/blades near by (I used an XACTO).

When cutting to width (ie, at the door sills), leave a bit longer than you think you'll need. You can always trim later.

I had to remove some of the padding from my new carpet, under the driver & passenger footboard area. It was much too thick.

While you have all the interior panels out anyway, it'd be a good time to thoroughly clean / refresh / repaint them.

Focustiva: Because I was told it was was impossible to fit a Focus bumper on a Festiva.
