Early Festiva differences

Looking at my 1988 shop manual , I noticed some of the lithographs show the blower knob being on the driver's side and the sliders pushed down a bit. Basically the same thing as normal but backwards. It also showed fabric? handles above the doors for you to grab onto. And the steering wheel had 3 "spokes" like Mazda 121s, instead of the 2 found in most Festivas. I also think it had a pocket in the dash, like the 121s


Can anyone provide more information on this?
