      Of course.
      1 stripe = +10hp
      2 stripes= + 2.5x 1 stripe
      3 stripes= too many

I had a single red stripe on casper

LOL, I had always been told that when running a single stripe it is placed on the according side to signify which side the driver is on, for emergency personel.

Always advice from 60s Z28 and Chevelle owners. Notice these are not Fords.

Myself, I always figured stripes and decals were handy to hide bumps, hail and rust marks, although I've grown quite attached to the seemingly stupid OEM zig-zag stripe that is on all three of my cars.

I believe the '65 Shelby GT350 was the first American car to offer the dual "LeMans" stripes.....at least I can't think any GM prior to '65 having them. I think the Firebird Trans-Am was the first GM....maybe '67??

Never paid much attention to car stripes until the late 60s (when I got my driver's license) but did notice that every Yahoo 'wannabe V8' pasted Camaro or Chevelle SS stripes onto their 2 speed auto inline-6 Nova, Mustang, Beaumont or Valiant. Raising the rear end and Dayglo-painting the diff was next in line as were installing little springy things called 'curb feelers' and purple accent lights that were often referred to as 'Whore-lures'.
Of course this was back when Esso would give you a dyed raccoon tail to hang from your gas cap to indicate that there was a 'tiger in the tank' when you paid an extra penny or two to buy high octane instead of 38.9 cent per Imperial gallon regular gas.
