  • Frame Rot

May be in the market for a new(er) Festiva. My little BatMobile has developed some pretty substantial frame rot. Guess it's been awhile since I crawled out from under it. ha. Can't seem to find anyone around here willing to work on it. Even though I tell them I am willing to pay. Oh well, enough whining. Hope this is the right forum for this.

Rust repair can get very expensive and what you can see is usually only the tip of the iceberg. The panels on the shell are no longer available so everything will need to be fabricated. I sure the shops are wondering why anyone would repair a festiva.

Would probably be cheaper to get a rust free car to start with.

      Yeah, but she's my baby!
Found a guy to do the work on my frame. Stripped off the undercoating and the only rust is right on the frame rail itself. Am going on Monday to pick up a section of floor cut from a junk Stiva, will have the work done later in the week. :headbang:

You're probably right, Matt, maybe should think about a different car, but I would have alot of people pissed at me if I got rid of the Batstiva.

Patience is not my middle name. Went down and got the piece of floor from the donor car. Should have the Batstiva back, minus the rust, by the end of the week.

True, however, very soon the engine and tranny will be the only original parts left on the car. And they may not be there for long.

It just isn't worth it to me. By the time you spend your time and money on a rusted out festiva you could just get a decent one.

At least his post was on topic! unlike some of the members i've seen that have raised a long dead thread with a totally off-topic post
