  • Cargo COVERED!

I guess it's not technically custom, but being that I've owned a pile of Festivas, and had my head in HUNDREDS more at junkyards, and I've NEVER even seen a cargo cover, I'll call it custom.

Guy was selling a '93 GL. I didn't really want/need the car, especially at $1400, but I texted him, and he sold the car, but kept the cargo cover just for me! I wonder what percentage of Festivas actually came with the cargo cover. Who all has them?

If someone could post a pic. This is out of a GL, and there are black strings, but I don't think they are in the right place. Can someone post a pic of how this is supposed to hang?

            Re: Cargo COVERED!

If your car never had the rear cover then you will require some hadware.

There's some small metal clips that mount in the speaker covers, a couple of black plasticknobs that mount on the hatch from which the strings hang and a couple of black plastic clips that mount on the hatch just under the glass that hold the cover in place when the hatch is closed.

Let me know if you need the hardware, I'm pretty sure I have a complete set somewhere in the garage. Here's a photo of the hardware except for the clips that mount on the hatch...

you are missing the 2 pieces under the speakers....in the side of the panel. They are the hold downs for the cords that run under the cover

You would also need the clips that attach to the hatch.

i have one of these, my cover is a little bit banged up though..

i thought these were stock mate.. i thought "nah every festy will have one of these.."

Seems that i was wrong about this great car once again.

i can get the measurements for the "hatch pegs" if you like.. it was stock, so official measurements will be given.

Festivaca actually sent me all the mounting hardware! It's been snowing the last few days, so I haven't installed it yet. It's actually causing some serious sound issues with my 2 X 12" subs... Hmmm. It does look good though!

So how does the back side stay secured / pivot?
And how easy is it to install remove ? does it require tools or ...?
Obviously Ive never seen one of these up close & personal but My 89 has all the hardware I think.
(except on of the clips on the lower edge of the glass is broke)
Is there a rod or something that runs the length of the hatch?
I see there are round notches at each end on the speaker covers?

The main clips are the ones that screw on the rear speaker shelves.
The main metal clip comes in two halves. the top half is on top of the shelf and the borrom half is on the bottom of the shelf. Each set is held by two short screws. Rubber caps cover the sharp tips of the screws. The shelf slides into the speaker shelf clips. The plastic clips that prevent the cargo cover from bouncing are visible to the right of the first link. They snap into square holes that are covered by adhesive dots on Festivas without this option. The strings loop around the knobs that are screwed to either side of the inner rear hatch. When you raise the hatch the cargo cover raises too.
