Guys -
I've got a brown interior 88L that I'm buying parts for to restore it to as new as condition as possible. As those of us with brown interiors know, finding brown trim parts in good shape is tough. I've come to the conclusion that if I'm gonna get the quality that I want (think: Freshtiva-quality, and yes, I know, that's a huge mountain to climb) I'm probably going to have to buy at least a few gray trim parts and paint them brown (most likely the entire dashboard, the parking brake console/cover, the rear seat side panels [the ones with the arm rest molded into them] and the cargo area side panels [the ones that fit below the speakers]). In addition, I've bought several brown door latch release handles (the small rectangular ones you pull to open the door) but they're kind of faded so those, too, will have to be painted; brown on brown.
So....if that's what I gotta do, my question is, how well does paint hold up on the parts that get touched / handled often?
Yes, I know there are paints that are made for plastics (Krylon Fusion is one) which helps with adhesion, but does anyone out there who's painted trim parts care to give their experience with wearability / durability over time.
Thanks!
