  • ROOF RACKS ?! : I NEED SOME MEASURMENTS AND MOUNTING DETAIL

whats up everybody. i used to have a thule roof rack and loved it but i traded it for some parts.

-thule or yakima style. ill even make the air dam that goes with it

heres what im up to. i work at a shop with loads of round and square tube extrusion all i need is a measurment of the length of the rack on top and a way they are mounted. if you have one can you please post pics of mounting hardware and how it hooks to the car. i will make it with full adjustability so you can move the mounting brackets in and out for a proper fit. i want to make mine next week and if f all is successful ill make more for anyone who wants one. so please if someone could post some pics of the mounting hardware and how it gets attached that would be awesome. and i know i can make them cheaper than they are being sold for especially if i get a few orders up front.-thanks

I would be highly intrested in this if fitment and price are good. A good roof rack setup cost more than one of Matt's B3 header and cam, thats crazy.

heres the idea so far if anyone has any input just jump in. the tubing could be round or square i just drew it like this because i want mine to be square. of course there will be pads on the bottom of the feet so it wont damage paint. thanks for lookin and constructive critism and suggestions welcomed

yea if you want to whip up a drawing thats great illustrator isnt the best program to make tech drawings and i just did a 10 min throw together so its sloppy. i just couldnt wait to show it to get things rolling.

i do have round tubing as well. what gauge steel would you suggest for the brackets?

If you could send me your soild models I could make drawings for you, and you would not have to worry about me stealing your work. I am sure there a few guys that could vouch for me on here. I would like to help further this project along as much as possible. There are only a few manufactures that makes a quality product that is a direct fit, but buy the time you buy everything you could have bought another festy beater. I would help with a prototype if you would like.

There are a few junk roof rack at the junk yard, I will go measure the thickness of the various brackets to gain a better knowledge of the gauge steel that should be used.

ROOF RACKS ?! : I NEED SOME MEASURMENTS AND MOUNTING DETAIL

Just need some rubber pieces for the mount and that looks like it would work. The metal tab that sticks up would need to sit at a slight angle too I believe. I want a rack too. But I'm not putting holes in my roof.
