Ive been wanting to do this for a long time now. Ford Fester and I were at the local U-pull and a brilliant idea popped in my head. Its freezing up nort here so I want to put in a heated seat. The problem is, all the factory heated seat setups and wired through the factory harnesses and would be nearly impossible to get it all intact. Except for one. The Buick Park Ave. From the factory, the park ave didnt come with heated seats, so gm released a factory add on which is a completely stand-alone setup, all you need is power and ground. The Pics below will show the process. We removed the seat and popped the covers off the seat. We then laid the heating pads between the cushion and the cover and used a general purpose spray adhesive to stick them on. We ran the wires through the holes in the seat and tied up the harness underneath. The heater has a 3 position switch, which fits perfectly in the power mirror switch panel (ya know, if your not one of the elite few with power mirrors). We had to extend the 3 wires to the switch about 3 feet to reach from the dash, down under the carpet and to the seat. Max tapped into the factory fuse box for keyed power and we grounded it to the floor. It works perfectly and has both bottom and seat-back heat. I know ive always wanted to do this so hopefully this quick write up will give someone the incentive to do it too. Took us a couple hours tops and was pretty easy.

FYI: if you can't find the Buick setup, Speedway motors sells the pads, wiring, control, etc. (complete kit). It's designed for street rods and kit cars. You can order on-line. A little pricey though......$89 per seat. I planned on doing the same thing once I find a better pair of seat covers. Now, I look for the Buick units. If any car will benefit from heated seats, it's a Festiva!Last edited by blkfordsedan; 01-20-2013, 11:32 PM.Brian

Alas, that is one option I cannot have. Besides having power mirrors on my Festiva, the black leather seat covers on my Tiburon seats cannot be removed. I have seen a lot of untouched Park Avenues at the junk yards. If any other members are interested in heating their behinds, I will certainly be on the lookout for any one I see with that switch in it. My yellow Dewalt blade will immediately follow. Great write up.
Is this the heated seat button? Did you drill a hole in the blank Festiva switch plate?
These Mazda RX-7 heated seat switches also look like they would snap right in our dashes.
It might even be cheaper to ship from the UK. Here is a close up of the switch.Last edited by bravekozak; 01-20-2013, 11:50 PM.

less expensive option than Speedway; carbon filament resistive grid seat heater kits can be had on eBay, dx.com or aliexpress.com for about $70/pair. Comes with harness, switches, etc..Jim DeAngelis
