  • package tray w/o 3rd brakelight

cool upgrade to eliminate the useless 3rd brakelight if you're considering replacing or finding a package tray. ford used to ask almost $400 for these. 4GREEN $62. part#KD001 68 310A 04.

Useless? Aren't 3rd brake light's mandatory on all vehicles since 1986? That mandate can differ from state to state I know.

Not crapping on your thread, just thought you should know. Thanks for the info though! I have a 3rd brake light and am going to see if I can get a tray for my car.

I took mine off. Besides, my Escort rear wiper mod blocked it anyway.

Yeah my last aspire I eliminated the rear center brake light and I used to get pulled over for it.

        Running 40psi.....in my tires.

You just need to install a trailer hitch like I did. Then install a receiver cover like mine. You won't get pulled over again. They will be too busy looking at that to notice the missing light.

Ernst and Junspeed both have wings available with LED 3rd brake light. No more cyclops!

no offenses taken. it's a valid point and i'm not advocating any illegal mods BUT, can you honestly say that the novel and unusual position or placement of a 3rd brakelight has alerted you milliseconds sooner and helped you to avoid rear ending someone? ya, that MIGHT have been the case for about a week after it became mandatory that all vehicles be equipped with it . now that that brainfart idea has all but disappeared from the stream of conciousness that alerts one to the unexpected how about a 4th brakelight? or a 3rd brakelight off center? or have the entire rear of the car explode in an eye searing nuclear red flash? here's my idea for attention grabbing that will never become novel, invisible, or out dated. this would operate sort of like a re-usable airbag.
a small compartment mounted up high that when braking would instantly inflate and display two very life-like DoubleD's. i just gotta work out something for the lady drivers.
