  • HIDs options options options

I have recently installed some super bright el cheapo lights and have know blown a relay or something because one is very dim and the other is normal. I'm thinking of upgrading to HIDs and I know a few people on here have them.
Should I go with the eBay HIDs and save some money?
    Anybody have experience with these?
What are yalls thoughts and inputs?
    TIA

You can get morimoto mini style projectors on eBay pretty cheap. They install in the stock housing and let you run HIDs "properly". My Festiva has HIDs retrofitted from another car. I personally am over them, and will eventually have some genuine minis and a generic HID kit installed in some stock housings. It'll be cleaner, more compact, and the end result works better.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

I agree with sketch but the stock housings have fluted lenses which would scatter the light. Plain ranger headlights with a bolt in bixenon projector kit would be ideal.

I understand the need for more light, but properly aimed stock housings with mid grade 9004s are adequate. HID bulbs were never meant to be used in our housings and shouldn't.

        Resources to help you decide:

        hidplanet.com (all things car lighting)
.. which is now run by the owners of
        theretrofitsource.com (car lighting superstore)
.. and for electrical help and general knowledge

Hmm. Didn't think about the stock lenses doing that. Thanks for the tip.

as far as the dim bulb, check your connection at the bulb for corosion, a poor ground or power connection can cause a dim bulb
