  • 98 protege steering column, multiswitch, and wheel

I searched but didn't find anything on this...has anyone tried to stuff a steering column from a 98 protege in a Festy? My favorite JY just got in a 98 so I can get the parts super cheap. My current steering column has a key hole drilled out and the key is JB welded in the cylinder...the door locks don't work and hatch lock was punched out.

I figure I can use the protege locks and have a single key all the way around, plus the benefits of tilt wheel, cruise control, intermittent wipers, and a slightly nicer steering wheel which will get a tissue wheel conversion in the Mazda V. All I really need to know is if the universal will bolt to the steering rack, the rest will be easy enough with some wiring diagrams and a crapload of my time with a multimeter.

Matt, have I told you you're an overachiever?

But no, I have no answer to your question. Just a request:

If you put a Protege column and wheel in your Festiva, it will need a Z5 engine!
