Yes I have... 26lbs is plenty strong for the hood. Just one of them should hold the hood up fine, but I have 2 on all of my Festivas.

Cool, I put 45lb struts on mine because they were on sale and they are a little too strong... surprises you sometimes lol.

        • My hood has some messed up hinges, and was always hard to open. 45 was pretty much a requirement for me!

I have one strut off because I am still playing with my brace. The hood falls down in cold weather with only one strut.
I have to prop the other strut against the main fuse.

            • Does anyone have a set of 10 mm hinge balls to sell.

I think I have one set left if you don't want to buy the Ebay ones.

The Ebay ones are less than $14 shipped for all 4

                    • For Aussies looking to do this, Bunnings sell gas struts in the correct size (380mm), but they are a bit stronger than specified here - you will only need one. Price is about $13. They dont have them listed online.
Look for the section where toolbox parts are sold - in most stores it will be one or two aisles back from screws/bolts.

Note. they come with M8 ball studs, I used tap/die set to rethread them down to M6

                      • New Hatch Strut for $11.39

Not Hood strut but hatch strut.... Found this on Amazon for $11.39 and free shipping with prime. All my hatch struts are still good so I haven't ordered one.

Be sure to read the review on that hatch strut. Appears you have to do some modifications to make it work.
