If you have a center console but no shift boot and bracket to mount to it, this mod works perfectly. I have had the boot in the past but of course they are getting harder to find cheaply as time goes by. All I did was take the stock shift boot from a non center console car and fit it into the console hole to make sure it would fit.
This is a little asymmetrical because it was made out of a piece of 1/16" steel plate I had laying around. As my luck would have it, it was a tad too small to make the tab on the 4th screw hole, but it works perfectly. I then cut it to size. 8 1/4"x4 3/4". Then I shaped it as pictured here.
The slight bow in this pic allows the bracket to put more pressure onto the center of the boot to hold it firmly in place.
Pay no attention to the missing lip on the left. That is where my piece of steel was too small but I decided to use it anyway.
I cut a small slice off the front of the boot as pictured here
Then glued it to the back of the boot pictured here. The back of the console is missing the lip the other 3 sides have. This little mod worked ok for me.
I used four 3/8" screws from my stash of old Festiva screws to mount it "squeezed" into the console.
In total it took me maybe 45 minutes to complete. My cuts were all done by cut off wheel and measurements were done by eye. Not perfect by any means but it works as good as perfect. Total cost of $0.0 and looks as good as a Factory made 5 speed shift boot in a stock center console. ENJOY !!!
