  • Driving with doors off

I apologize if this topic has been brought up already but I can't seem to find the answer by searching.

If I take the doors off on a Festiva, will that warp the body when I drive?

I don't personally think So. The door isn't part of the structure of the car. It Really just keeps you from falling out. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but removing a door, That's only connected by a couple hinges And a loop latch isn't going to effect the body of the car. Just be careful your state allows such things.

Take a couple parts Festiva doors and turn them into BAHA mesh doors (like a jeep)

Much less likely to warp the body than if you cut off the roof, like some folks have done! You might know that it'll get a bit drafty inside when you're on the freeway in mid winter.

I'd like to make some doors out of 1.5" tubing that include a latch. Heck, might even be stronger than the tin foil we've got stock! Wrap it with jeep/boat window material..

I took the doors of mine for a weekend just for fun, body is perfectly fine. It is very odd driving with no doors lol.

I always wanted to do this during summers with my paper route, but never got the balls to do it. Good to know it has been done!

maybe it's just coincidence but i've seen more than one big junkyard using a festiva without doors or hatch as a parts retriever for the back 40. makes sense. fantastic maneuverability, gas milage, hauling capacity, and IT JUST WON'T DIE!!!

^^ I've seen two Festivas used locally, one with no doors.

Also a lot of Toyota pickups rusted to nothing. Won't die, no matter what. Watch videos of the Taliban on the news.. always driving them 'Yotas.

Did you notice any flex in the car when you did that?
