  • Front seat replacement, head rest.

Reading seat replacements. Want the front seat to have a removable headrest so that it can fold flat in front of rear seat. Most of the fancy seat replacements will not work as they have aggressive bolsters, not desirable for big guys and for use as a bed out hunting or what ever. Any easy bolt ins that work this way?

I don't think the Escort seats fold all the way flat. Best bet would be 1988-89 Festy seatbacks. Use Aspire seat cushions tho (i.e. the part you sit on), they are more comfy.

My early 88 and my 89 have one piece seat backs with head rests, just like the wrecked 90 that I want to fold flat.

Lemans seats need a bit of fabrication but they fold way back. Can't remember if they have adjustable head rests or not but they pretty much lay back 180*. The thing about them is they have a twist knob on the side instead of a lever because they come from a 4 door vs a 2 door.

Pontiac? the width alone would would be hard to adapt. That style of push the button and remove headrest is what would make the conversion work, if it came from something with comparable mounts and a lowback with removable headrest.

Oh, the removable headrest thing might have been for LX models only.

Actually the width wasnt much of an issue at all and the mounting points were pretty close to stock. I just had to chop the stock brackets off the rails and weld the the rails of the pontiac seat...they lined up about right as far as width. Had to weld a piece of metal up from the floor for right rear corner but I could have used the stock part, just wanted a cleaner look.

Are the LX seats the ones that can fold all the way back in front of the rear seat? Stock seats would be my preference, and it seems that some one said once that the front seats would fold flat. May have been Paul? but the video just shows the back seat trick. Thanks!

Found another video of paul that showed a front seat that has a different headrest, he doesn't remove it and leaves the headrest sticking up. If this LX ?? only seat can lose the headrest that would make camping possible with a lot less pillow type bulk to bring along. My self inflating mattress could go directly on the seats. Currently my red totaled car has the backseat removed as this works better with the non removable headrest. My goal is to get my red car fixed, at least the metal part in time for hunting season.
EDIT I found braves pics, The LX seats must lose the headrests when needed!
