  • Rear cargo light installation

Last weekend I grabbed the rear cargo light from the car I got my interior from. I hooked it up and nothing. Checked the manual and the white/red wire is hot and I do have power. The other wire is blue and the manual shows it coming from the hatch switch. What is this and where is it located?
I'm going back for a few other things off this car if it is still there and I'll grab the switch.

You need to pull the latch from the car... There's a blue grounded wire that runs off of it and will let the light come on when the hatch opens.

It's a pretty easy steal, install isn't quite as easy, but it can be done.

Latch went in pretty easy but I didn't grab the wire harness. My 90 had the plugs for the light so I assumed it had the plug for the hatch latch. I had to fish a wire thru the hatch and rubber thingy that goes from the hatch to the body and then to the main harness. Not to easy to do.

If anyone ever does this make sure you grab the light, latch and hatch harness.

I used a mercury switch until I found the latch with the switch.

I wish I would have known this. I grabbed the light out a of a car a while back not realizing there was more to it ?
Aspires and Sways all around, Miata B6 installed, KYB G2Rs just installed in front. Wish for coil overs someday.
