single slot mazda fog switch = fan override?

How could I find some sort of stencil template thing to paint a tiny 4 blade fan on a fog switch? Sounds stupid but if you saw one you'd want one too right? A mazda 'fog icon' is painted on the switch flat and not recessed correct? Are the lighted ones only double slot or are there single slot lighted ones that match?

I thought about doing the same thing. Best idea I could come up with was to find someone with a Roland vinyl cutter to make a stick-on stencil, which while expensive can produce some pretty tiny stuff. Another obstacle would be finding an appropriate paint/coating, since everything I've tried for similar applications has a tendency to peel when you touch it a lot.

18-wheelers often have manual engine fan switches so you don't have to gear down when climbing a hill. They're usually rather big, but I'm sure with enough searching you could find one that can be hacked into a Festy switch blank. The switches they use in late-model Western Stars are particularly nice.

If you type in fan switch over ride there are a whole bunch of different options on ebay I don't know if they will fit in the slot even if I bring a cutter tool. The really cool glowing ones for the Can Am seem a little bulky the jeep ones seem to be okay but they're more of a stick out rocker

Mazda RX-7 and Kia Pride fog lamp switches are direct single slot fits to the Festiva dash.

Just use a steel cromed switch they are at any harware store for cheep just a small drill for the whole to mounte them into the festy blank switch tabs tthey look cool I thought if you have a lot of them it looks like an airplane cockpit cuz you have the lights, fog lights, kc lights, radiator fan, sub amp, and starter switch one other I can't remember

i'm almost tempted to go out and see but i think there is a white 4 blade fan pictogram printed on the HVAC control face on my escort. or maybe another car i've been in recently. and i think that is printed on a sheet of thin plastic that is attached to the HVAC faceplate. maybe you could pull the sheet off, cut out the fan symbol in a small square and glue it on your switch if it's small enough. that's all some of the pride/festiva switches have.

kozac: I'm aware of how to find matching mazda switches, was just wondering if single slotted ones have a light, and if the fog picture is recessed in or painted on top flat. I can scrape the paint off and figure something out, but it would be cool to have a tiny hvac pic of a fan on it. If someone is aware what kind of heavy use paint is used maybe they can point in right direction, or if they are able to do this service even.

Im sure there are a lot of hvac stuff off of other cars where the fan pic is a hole and can be used as my stencil. I just dont get to the yards as much as in my single childless days to screw around and test fit oddball ideas...yes in all ways you double entendre people

The symbols on most of these switches are screen printed and yes there is a special paint used for this application. A screen is made with the symbol desired and positioned almost touching the switch, the paint is on the top side and a squeegee is used to push the paint though the open space in the screen and on to the switch. At least this is the way it was done in the old days.

here's one of each type. i think these are both kia pride and got them from the UK probably. the printed one is unlit (2 prong) and the one on the right is (4 prong)

No, it's screen printed. I've wiped some of the paint off while detailing, it's nothing like foil

Thanks all you guys. I do like the idea of a single wide lighted switch, but two rx-7 or other locally available mazda switches to make both a front and a rear fog on a budget is enticing as well. If anyone beats me to it I encourage you to share/brag.
