  • Mirror swaps from other models?

Curious if there are side mirrors out there from other vehicles that fit, or can be modded to fit? I can't stand not having a passenger mirror.

Mid 90's mazda protege power mirrors fit with minor mod of drilling a third hole for the 3 screw mount. I use mine without power. How often do I have to change mirror position? I got 'em set, never have to move them. They will work in power mode with the Festy as the same mirrors came on the 90 Festy, had almost the same base, with a curve on one sideof the trangular shape instead of all straight edges on the protege base. No one would know the diff except us Festy guys.
      EDIT
Tom, beat me to it. Some festy's had a regular mirror on pass side. Look for those too.
Someone here modded some Escort mirrors to fit too.

I have some junk yards searching for some genuine Festiva mirrors. They have them, but they are not inventoried properly. I may end up having to help them look. In the meantime, I am hoping my stainless ball bearings for the swoopy repair will be waiting for me on Wednesday, when I get to Lewiston. The stock balls are rusted and don't roll. They just drag and score the aluminum mount. I will also be using nano grease for the reassembly. Mr. Dickmeyer's tool can also be used on Protege mirrors because they share the same internals. I priced internal sail plates. They are $10 NOS. Thanks, F3BZ.

Can you provide a cliff notes how-to on painting the mirrors if you buy some white ones and want to make them black or body color? Whats the best way w/o too much prep? Going over plastic is a horror story especially since it sees sun all the time.

BTW i CAN get a set of protege mirrors, there are white ones and some blue that isnt festiv'a blue right now locally.

Factory paint for plastic parts, that doesn't peel off is a special heat catalyzed methacrylate based formulation.
I would just lightly scuff the clear coat with a very fine grit paper and paint thirty degree gloss black trim aerosol. I personally take the mirror completely apart and replace the exposed rusted steel screws with stainless screws after chasing the 5 mm threads.

I would imagine I can find an Escort easy enough to grab some mirrors from. Thanks!

In Japan they had the front fender mounted raised mirrors.

If I had a festy I would try my best to source them just to have something

Aspire mirrors fit. They cover a little of the window, but there are internal adjustable models available. My post of "new paint" has Aspire mirrors.

I have some japanese nostalgia club members near me. He's got a few sets on his toyotas. He changes his mind a lot, Ill see if he has some didnt like. In the meantime i went ahead and bought the protege white mirrors on half off day, ill probably plasti-dip them and stick them on, so i can peel off and resell if I change MY mind.

here's the UK pride style on eBay. pretty expensive. these can be got for less at 4GREEN. about $50. this is a good upgrade. not power but they can be adjusted from inside with the little lever. i'll have a set of these FS sometime soon.
