  • Replacement Seat Covers 88 LX

Does anyone know where you can buy seat covers? The seats themselves are in good shape.
I want to take off the old seat covers and replace with new one's. I am not looking for the kind
of covers you buy at the parts dealers, (AutoZone, Advance, O'Reilly's, Checkers). The covers
have to replace the original ones. A DIY job starting with removing the current covers down to
the foam, and putting new ones on. Got any idea's?

    Thanks,

This has been discussed many times. Find unstained, unripped seat covers at the junk yard. Take a mini Knipex compound bolt cutter and cut through all the hog rings. Peel the covers off and roll them inside out and take then to the junkyard checkout. If management is nice, you should get them for free. Take them home and double wash them in the washing machine. Let them dry. Buy some hog rings and a set of hog ring pliers. Remove your old covers one seat at a time with your mini Knipex. Reinstall fresh clean seat covers. The seats will smell better than the first day from the factory. You will get better and faster with every seat cover you take off and put on. I personally use a pair of Blue Point hog ring pliers. You stretch the rope seam with one hand and crimp the hog rings through the original holes with the other. You cannot tell that it wasn't factory.

What brave said, or you could find Aspire or Escort Gt cushions & backs & swap them over to your Festy frame. Better more comfortable seats. Been done alot . do a search.
If it don't fit, use a bigger hammer!

Also you can get the hog rings off with needle-nose pliers, then use zip-ties to put the new covers on, instead of hog rings.

For those members who are unfamiliar with hog rings, her is a picture of a hog ring loaded in the jaws of the pliers. You stretch the seat cover over the foam and locate the barb of the hog ring through the existing hole, around the steel seat punchout, and squeeze. Simple, OEM and professional.
