  • Johnny come lately, there's a new kid in town - GT-X Hoods from Fibreglass or Carbon

    Howdy ya'll,

Found a ebay seller who makes GT-X Hoods from either Fibre Glass or Carbon Fibre.

Goes by the name of gulfportindustries10 (ad has since expired)

    message them for a price..

BTW, i kindly invited them over to the forum to have a look.

wonder what else they could make?

no reinforcements... thin mount points... no latch ring which forces the end user to mount hood pins (illegal on their own in my state and others)... rough underfinish. that is something that would NEVER find its way onto any of my cars.
    Trees aren't kind to me...

    currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),

um a member gave him a hood to make the mold. There was a big group buy, if i recall some people got burned by this deal because the orders where not all ful filled. Now i think the mold may have changed some hands. I cant remember all the details but maybe someone else remembers. I own 2 of the hoods. Look just like FMS.

i'm guessing some feedback for the guy might be ideal.. i did invite them to join up.. so i guess either talk to them via the ad or wait for them to join up and suggest some feedback to improve on the design or even go visit if they aren't too far away.

        just an idea.

i would have a chat to the creator about these features as i'm sure the feedback will be great for customer-business relations.. also, if you explain this to them and give them some reference to why these mods should be justified, i'm sure they could work this into the the creation process of the hoods.. i know if i were making something, i'd consider all options as well as features, i mean what's a better way to advertise yourself than the recommendations from other people who own my items.. help make them sell themselves..

also they might be considerate enough to clone other items as well if the opportunity and items were donated for "research and development".

just got a response from the seller and he's said no worries..

if you have any questions regarding the build or feedback for the maker, let him know.

sounds like he's excited about doing it.. i'll pass him a link to this thread so he can follow what's been going on.

Also, Festyboy i made a mention to him about the reinforcement for the hood bolting areas and latches so they utilise the original car's locking latch for the hood and i even made mention of a few other parts to him to consider, but like i was saying earlier, he might need to borrow a donation for "Research and Development" so that he can, what i would presume most people in the industry do would be to take measurements and work from an original..

fine, they probably want to borrow them for "research and design" and then return them..
