  • Need help installing indigo gauge panel

Ok so i got the gauge panels from junspeed, I rushed home and started to take my cluster apart, It looked simple enough, Pop the plastic off, remove the screws, and then pop the needles off? When the only needle that popped off was RPM, the fuel and temp gauges pulled out and fell apart! the speedle needle is welded on and i dont want to break it! Has anyone ever rebuilt or taken a cluster apart? is there a procedure for getting the speedo needle off? How do i put the temp and fuel back together? Junspeeds panels are nice but they will need some drilling for additional holes for screws for the speed o and a hole for the trip reset.

Hi, try rotating the speedo needle (plastic) counter-clockwise while gently pulling it. The plastic needle should come off leaving the shaft on the assembly. For the temp and fuel gauge, I'll disassemble mine and take pics tomorrow. BTW you can install the panel w/o removing the temp and fuel needles. After removing the speedo and tach needle and screws, unscrew the upper screws first. Return the upper screws with the panel but not so tight, just enough to hold the threaded metal underneath. Next gently lift the panel starting on the temp side to remove the lower screws then on the fuel side. Finally, lay the panel flat and return the lower screws, and the speedo and tach screws.

Hey Jun it worked i got the speed o off. So how do i put the other gauges back together? Did you say there was a way to calibrate the speedo to match the 120 gauge panel? Does the indigo panel sit on top of the old one? It looks like I have to drill some holes? The trip reset lever looks like it comes out right where the indigo strip is, can i drill threw the indigo?
can you explain the screw order again? maybe some pictures? im slow lol.

Hey here's a shot of our speedo mechanism. Yours looks different, there's no adjustment tab on the left. You'll need our mechanism to get the accurate speed. Yeah you need to drill or punch some holes. Avoid touching the white led circuit (seen on the back of the indiglo panel). It looks like you really need our cluster here.

Yeah I really don't think you can turn an 85 mph speedo mechanism into a 120.

Not quite if it's sent there with our cluster. It only needs your cluster's pcb to make it work. thanks .

Yeah it sits on top. You can't drill through the indiglo strip but it looks like it's below the white strip. Yeah I'll post some pics tomorrow after my work... .

Hey Rick, here are the pics. I did it on my temp gauge only but same goes for the fuel.

First, you need to reinstall the needle and shaft like this, the small pin is inserted on the white plastic of the needle.

This is the threaded plate at the back of the gauge. It holds the panel screws. This part falls if the upper and lower panel screws are removed.

Next, reinstall the stopper plate over the needle like this. The stopper is above the white plastic.

Another pic of the assembled gauge w/o the gauge panel to show the parts clearly. Let me know if you need more pics .

Sorry this was referring to the mileage. What's on mind is you install the cluster without the lens then while running you can adjust the needle to the right speed using a gps. Then reinstall the lens back .
