    Escort Hatch Cargo Cover

    So I found a cargo cover from a escort hatch for 6 bucks today and bought it in the hopes that it would fit the festiva. Its a bit big but the shape is pretty close. I might try to trim it fit. Never tried cutting fiberglass not sure how well thats gonna work. If it doesn't work I plan to just make one but I thought this might be a tad easier we shall see.

        Ok so after taking some measurements I have to trim about 8 inches off the back. I think I am going to make a frame out of thin mdf that fits the area perfectly and cut the escort cargo cover to sit inside the mdf frame and and then cover it all back in the grey carpet. It already has the holes so I am gonna rig a rope mechanism that will attach to the hatch so that the cover will lift up when the hatch opens. Project will be a while down the road though have to work on getting the festiva road worthy first. Then I can start working on cosmetic things.

          If you have finished destroying a escort cargo cover to dig down for a tire iron, or get into the mechanism for the wiper raise your hand =(

            ^I imagine lots of these have been either looked over or destroyed/thrown out of the way to get to something in a yard.
