^ This is THE stuff to use ......
As far as prep, think CLEAN!!!!
Wipe it all down with laquer thinner a couple times, then lightly sand out any scuffs and scratches with medium grit sand paper, and then the whole bumper with fine grit.
Then CLEAN a couple more times with laquer thinner, let dry and ......Spray! Dont get to close, or to far away with the can. It should look "wet" with out running if you get the distance, and movement right.
Too close and it'll run (which sux) too far away, and it'll look "fuzzy"Last edited by drddan; 10-15-2013, 03:51 AM.Dan

I've used plain Rustoeum flat black spray too. It worked fine. Flat Rustoleum looks more satin than other brands flat (to me). Maybe the oil base? IDK.
Point is, if you can't find the back to black or it's too expensive, whatever, the flat Rusto works fine too. It lasted as well. No chipping or rubbing off. It was like it soaked into the plastic.Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

Yup! ^ Rustoleum rocks!
I gotta do my GL bumpers in gloss black. That will take a lot of "holding the can just right" lolLast edited by drddan; 10-15-2013, 03:58 AM.Dan

I just did the front bumper on my car in white using Krylon Fusion. For prep I cleaned the bumper inside and out with SuperClean and then did a pass with Dawn Power Dissolver. After it dried I took a red Scotchbrite to it to remove the sun damage, oxidation, and to scuff/open up the pores on the plastic. I didn't have to sand any scratches and such since the bumper was in really good shape to begin with, but if yours has damage you can feather it out with sandpaper as Dan instructed. I then washed it down with PPG Prep Kleen, but you can use any good solvent like acetone or thinner as Dan suggested. I then laid down 4 coats (1.5 cans) of the Krylon and semi-baked it using halogen work lights. I was really impressed with the Krylon Fusion, the color is VERY close and it was ready to install in an hour.
It's the front bumper that was on my car at Madness for anyone who was there to see the finished result.
I'm going to do the rear bumper soon if you'd like me to take pics of the process.Last edited by Zanzer; 10-15-2013, 12:45 PM.

Like everyone else said.
Prep with sandpaper if necessary.
Remove oil, wax, grease, dirt etc with a wipe down.
Solvent usually works well.
Then spray a coat of adhesion promoter or two.
It makes the paint stick better to plastic parts.
Then spray your high build primer down to fill any scratches from sandpaper.
Then lay your matched color coat down with 4-8 light coats.
Or however many it takes until your color doesn't get any fuller.
Then spray anywhere from 5-8 light coats of clear depending on how much gloss and protection you want.
With the last coat being a nice wet coat.Last edited by rmoltis; 10-15-2013, 03:02 PM.
