  • rear wiper hatch

Just found rear hatch with wiper, 40$. Its a little ugly. Ehat do i need to wire up wiper? Does it run on same or seperate wiper circuit? Hatch doesnt have glass, is it worth it? I just like all the extras i can get but, not sure its even useful without switch or other guts.

Be patient and you may find one like I did. I found a completely rust free one with wiper, glass, harness, washer nozzle AND factory spoiler holes at the junk yard for $50. I sold my other rust free southern hatch to Bert. It is important to disconnect the harness at the rear tail light and carefully pull the harness up and out of the hole (one connector at a time). The harness is complete for all accessories, including rear wiper.

If the yard has cut the hatch harness at the hinge, then you would have to use yours. It's a much bigger job pulling the good harness out of your hatch and fishing it back in the replacement hatch.

Although it's not for everybody, I highly recommend adding a power hatch actuator to lock and unlock it. The Viper remote, makes it even more fun. I love pushing buttons.

If you can get just the wiper stuff, the plug and mounts for the wiper motor are already back there. At least on the 90s models it is.

All you would need is to measure and drill a couple holes and route the washer pump tube. But I did it was decently easy, I had a harder time running the wires for door mounted speakers.

torque, you should just added another grommet on the other side, like I did.
Lots of room for extra wires.

It's pretty easy if you know how. What I did recently was attach the hose to a coat hanger w/duct tape, then fish it down from the top, and grabbed the coat hanger from below to pull it thru. Works for electrical wiring and the antenna wire too.

I did the same thing as Tom when I routed my hose up to the washer nozzle. It helped to take the side window out so I could fish the hose across the top of the roof too.

If your hatch is in better shape you can just drill the holes for the wiper and the nozzle in your hatch. When I did the swap to a wipered hatch on my '92 the wiring was all there. Just route the wiring from the hatch down the back pillar on the drivers side and plug it into the connector behind the rear right panel. Easy as that!

Forgot to mention that I removed the rear row of fasteners from the headliner, so I could start the coat hanger from there. Basically you connect the hose to the spray nozzle, run it thru the roof, and then run the other end connected to the coat hanger down the right C-piller, and Robert is your father's brother*.
