so today at work I was thinking of my stivia (yea that's what I do now lol) I remember when I rip the carpet out of a bedroom how loud it was in there till I put the padding in. sooooo I decided to rip the carpet and panels out the back of the festy and put carpet padding in the panels and under the carpet I only did the back so far and I can tell a huge difference I looked into dynamat and other material but cost just didn't match reward. the carpet padding is MUCH cheaper. I have enough to do the front and door panels as well. all this cost me about 50 bucks and that counting the adhesive. figure I share my experience with this I am sure its been done but wanted to give my imput.

I had planned on doing this with my white BP festy before I sold it.... I was driving by carpet store/warehouse and dropped by, guy inside showed me where they have a "scrap" bin out back and said I could have as Much of it as I wanted for free! These were not just bits and pieces, but 1/4 rolls, 1/2 rolls.etc... All thicknesses! Also had tons tons tons of carpets too! FREE! I grabbed enough to to 20 festivas! Haha! Cause it was free! He told me most carpet places have scrap bins and will let anyone go through them for free....

Ive been considering this, harbor freight has pad for garage floors also for cheap. Carpet pad gets nasty especially if you live in a moist part of the country like i do. Im a textile expert and regular rebond pad is a bad idea. It doesnt hold up, it holds moisture and it has vapors that come off the glue. Its called.BHT gas and it makes some carpet yellow, dont know if you have ever seen it but if anythingblocks the pads ability to breath it traps this gas.Yellow 91 festiva GL 5speed

I hope I don't have any problems with it...I talk to my dad who done paint and body work for years said that's what they used to put back in cars if had to change something with interior. he got a 70 fairlane and he said he put it in in 25-30 years ago and no problem. maybe moisture not as bad here. thanks for heads up tho I will have to keep an eye on it1990 Red Festiva STOCK "pregnant roller skate"

If you use carpet pad they make pad that is morr like rubber, its one peice and not glued together, it usually is tteated with anti mold/fungel microban and has a mositure barier, thispad is also usually "heavier" in its firmness. Just as a heads up if your looking, try to find this type. Its like 1 in 10 homes have it. When i was a carpet cleaner that pad would dry in the area i started before i finished the house. Rebond pad stays wet 10x longer. Bad for mold and rust.Yellow 91 festiva GL 5speed

I work for a company that make a type of felt and it for moisture barrier that sort thing I put some scrap we had from work in first. I finished the front tonight and I can definitely tell a big difference specially since im running a straight exhaust out front side of back tire makes for a lot of cabin noise. this cut down probably 50% of noise1990 Red Festiva STOCK "pregnant roller skate"
