  • Right hand drive swap

I have been kicking around the idea of doing a right hand drive swap and have been wondering if anyone has done it before

I have a 1993 festiva l and i have already but a bp in it and did a 2000 kia rio front brake swap but i was gonna strip it and use it as a race car however now im thinking of just going rhd and fixing the body just not sure what to do for a steering rack as i had looked into a civic one but that mounts different and is about 3.5" too long

Just looking for info or possibly help finding parts and opinions

It would be a tun of work would probably be cheaper in import s rhd model. Different firewall and a hole lot more.
It could be done and look factory if you could get all the rhd parts from over sea's. Or buy that rhd gtx festiva in Washington state.

My first question: Are you legally allowed (ie can you license/insure drive it) to change a left hand drive vehicle that was sold in a left hand drive country, over to right hand drive? And what would be the advantage aside from better being able to access rural mailboxes, and allow lefties to manipulate a gearshift with a dominant hand?

it is in fact legal and here in el paso, texas its quite common with honda's and its just a coolness factor for the most part to be right hand drive its more or less my car is cooler then yours because i have to sit on the opposite side to drive and i just have always wanted a right had drive vehicle plus driving to car meet it makes it easier to talk to a friend driving next you lol

I think cool would involve a mid engine mitsu 6g72 tt with a 6 speed. That scream unique and awesome in my mind.
