  • footrest

I know that a footrest is intended for an automatic with cruise, but when I scavenged one out of an old AMC Eagle, it fit the Festiva floorpan perfectly.
The question now is, do I want to weld on a pair of M6 weld studs?
I only used four of them for my power lock install. Plenty left.

Are you talking about a dead pedal?

Yes, the one that's located to the left.

It would sort of look like this in a Festiva (ignore the roll of paper towels).

I was thinking of locating the footrest somewhere to the side.

Seems like a good plan. Dead pedals are common on manual cars too. Your festiva has a manual choke?
Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Driving is my passion, as it was for the people who invented the automobile, the people who paved the first roads and the people who continue to improve the automobile. Please respect this passion.

Every 60s and up MTX car and truck I've ever owned or driven did not feature a dead pedal. The 5 speed Echo I drive now happens to have one and up until now I viewed it entirely as a Toyota gimmic. But I can certainly understand how something like this would be nice to have when you drive something screwy like an original 47 Ford P/U with high clutch and brake pedals coming up directly from underneath the floor.
