  • custom door cards

Today, I walked by a fully loaded Infinity crossover. I eyeballed all of the black leather interior. As soon as I got home, I ran downstairs, grabbed a perfectly good Festiva door card and proceeded to rip it open to see what's inside. I need a template for some carbon fiber seconds that I want to have wrapped in black leather. It's amazing how dirty fabric gets. The carbon fiber panels must be .080" X 19-3/4" X 43-1/2"

I have decided to have the custom door panels made at D & R Auto Restylers
    716-842-1626

    They are located in
Buffalo, just minutes from the Peace Bridge.
    Katzkin recommended them.

I'm also interested. I am planning on custom panels in Pedro.

Decided on samples and pattern today. It will be different than originally sketched.
They have the naterials in stock. I have chosen to go vinyl and not leather (in case it gets wet), with red French stitch between both the perforated and solid Harley black. The stitch will be recessed.

Working on doing the same thing, Brave. Here's how I'm approaching the choosing of my design, colors, etc.

                - Took a picture of a door panel
                - Downloaded it on to my compter
                - Printed the door panel picture on my printer
                - Took THAT print of the pix and then, holding it up to a window with light from behind, traced the door panel outline and stitch seams from the printed picture on to a blank piece of paper
                - Took the tracing and, selecting the darkest setting possible, photocopied the tracing
                - Took the new photocopies (I printed off a bunch) and, using colored pencils, try out various colors and design options. <--- This way I can easily create numerous different options and look at them all at once as I choose what I finally want.

My wife thinks I'm nuts but I just think of it as a Festy coloring book for adults! :-)

What kind of material are you using for the door panel backing?

Door cards are definitely one area most everyone will want some options for. Including possibly, a "stock door card" option, but with more colors to choose from.

I've been thinking about making door cards, too, especially the drivers side. It gets that familiar caved in spot where the seat belt buckle pokes it. My question is about the "figure 8, hourglass" holes that secure the fasteners. Is there a router template for this or do you drill two holes and cutout the section between them?

Yes, and possibly a reinforced speaker cut out too.

You could probably just drill a big hole on top and a smaller one on the bottom
and pull the clip through. I had to take my door card off this weekend. The thing
is pretty weak anyway at this point. I'm not really even sure what that material
they're made out of is even called.

I used a dremel tool to cut the key holes for the plastic card holders. I know they have a name but i can't think of it right now.
I then had a local shop cover them to match my new seat covers.
