I've often thought that if the outer "skin" of a stock hood was carefully removed from the inner bracing and then the new fibreglass skin grafted on you would end up with stock hinge mounting points and the latch. The center portion of the bracing could be cut away for clearance. I'll see if I can put together a sketch of what I'm getting at.

That might be a tall order. It would really have to be beefed up in the latch area to hold and not crack.

Fibreglass hoods should have thick rubber gasket under the hood pin as the hood will crack around the pin area. The constant vibration cracks the hood at the pins. I would say a single point where the latch would be would have a lot of stress

I have done a bunch of work with fiberglass in the past. I just have never looked at the latch and how to mount one with fiberglass onto the hood.. Was hoping Greg could possibly make one with a latch built in since he has the hood an will be making the mold and such. Would be sweet to not have to do hood pins.

I actually been looking into fiberglass a lot recently.
How much are the materials costing to make a hood?

10yd^2 of CSM is only about 30-40 bucks. assuming you had the resins and PVAs and etc in preparation for making many parts, It cant be much more than 20-30 extra dollars in costs there per piece you make.

Gomez, Im not sure how hard it is to add the latch after, but if you lay the latch into the fiberglass while you are laying it, its pretty straight forward.

I would be interested in front and rear gtx style bumpers if that's what your making . I've wanted to buy from Ernest or Jun but shipping fiberglass halfway around the world seamed like a bad idea lol. Also keeping my money in the us makes me feels better too.
I did get a rear tail finisher from Ernest but it was rubber and, survived the trip. :-)
