  • Can the rear fenders be cut?

Can the rear fenders be cut on a festiva without compromising structural integrity? If it does compromise, can it be fixed with a brace?

Mine were cut for flares and welded together to maintain integrity. They were done by the body shop that painted the car.

They can be cut 'out' but they're not like front fenders that merely bolt on. With the interior removed and careful set of scribed lines (ie for matching up the welding-in of the replacement stuff) a wizard with a plasma arc cutter (or you with a jig/reciprocating saw etc and lots of elbow grease) can do this. Rear arches/quarters are integral to the unibody engineering of these cars. Buzzing off/out rear quarters is not something for the faint of heart, nor for someone that expects the car to behave OEM if/when the end result is reassembled with rivets and bondo.

Bert, that's exactly why mine were done by a body shop,To maintain the unibody's structural support.
