  • Material trunk mat/support is made of?

Does anyone know what that weird cardboard stuff is in the trunk?
Mine is in pretty crappy shape and I'd like to cut a new piece if I can
find the right material before it's completely gone.

Masonite from your local McHome store is a good replacement for the pressed fiber hardboards that they make those covers out of , like this http://www.lowes.com/pd_16605-46498-...ductId=3015239 Some places even have 1/2 sized panels(4'x4') and 1/4(2'x2'), I even recall seeing it in different thicknesses too.

It's also a good replacement for the door cards if you want to go through upholstering them.... There is much more work to that but it does well for there too.

I saw that yesterday at the junk yard and I'm actually considering it.
I'd love to get new vinyl's from Junspeed but I dont think they sell them
          anymore.

I'm wondering what adhesive they used on the door cards. Trying to make
all the same cutouts in all the same places would be a bit of a pain though
I'd think. Has anyone ever attempted this on here?

I just use a spray-on glue. Probably at the McHome store.

Will that hold up to the Florida heat though?

The 3m super77 spray will for sure. I began my installing career in FL in 89.... It is the go-to as far as spray can adhesive.

If you have an air compressor you could pick up a cheapo paint gun and run a yellow adhesive like Weldwood contact cement.....this is close what the OEM uses for bonding the hard panels to the soft coverings.

Sweet! Thanks, guys. Anyone know how you get that pattern in the vinyl.
I'd love to replicate that. That'd be awesome to have practically new door
                    cards.

I finished my hatch piece today. Looks decent but it's definitely more functional now

If you can send me the sketch of a door card, I can have it here reproduced. avitsef gave me a skin though - 5 years ago.

I will sell it at an affordable price as well.

I just got a bigger, almost new piece of masonite from a large, luxury car trunk at the junkyard. I had to cut it down a bit with my table saw. I have an Aspire spare, so I had to cut a slightly larger hole and stick a plastic junkyard spacer in the middle.
