What is the best option to convert a Festiva to power windows/locks/mirrors if not equipped from the factory?

  • #2
Some members have installed Pride power window winders.
Do a search for "power windows" with quote marks.
    Good luck.

      Hi Cm12307,
I had the same question years ago when I began upgrading my Festiva. After a few different attempts the easiest way that I found was to use the window regulators and motors from a mid 90s Mazda 626 with aftermarket SPAL power window switches. I found that the bolt pattern for the regulator was nearly identical from the Festy to the 626. I believe that I had to enlarge the 3 holes around the window crank, an do a small amount if tin- snip surgery to mount the motor and that was it.
I used standard aftermarket door lock actuators for the power locks, and then wired those to an aftermarket alarm and I was done.
Once you get it open and see the parts next to each other it will all make sense. It was one of those thing that I asked why Kia didn't include this as an option, then I remembered the original price of the vehicle..... and said , Right..

Thanks for your help. I've seen some universal aftermarket kits but I haven't used any of them, so I thought I'd see what others have done.

Did any festivas come equipped with power windows? Probably not in the US I'm
        Assuming.

            What year is your Festiva?
If 1990 - 1993 the wiring for the power mirrors is already in the door. The power mirror control connection is present behind the blank cover on all years.
I installed power windows and mirrors in my 89L and had to add the door wiring for both. My switches are in the armrests (armrests came from Germany).
I ordered the power regulators and switches from FourGreen (I believe there are still available there). The door wiring from a late 80's Mercury Tracer with power windows or an early Miata or Protege would work too. You will have to add your own power wiring from your fuse (new fuse) panel and your ignition switch.
If you do not want to get the longer armrests and make them work, you could just put the switches in the cubby.. that would be easier.
No trouble with mine since I installed and I love them.

Ok.. so to add the power mirrors, you just need the left and right power mirrors with sail plates and pigtails and the control switch.
Just remove the switch control cover and plug in your control switch (I assume you have white lettering on your dash..is so you will want white on the control).
You will need to remove your door panel to plug the pigtail wire into the connector in the door.
Adding the power for the windows will require a lot more work though.

They aren't on the website you can directly order from but they are on the facebook page. I haven't uploaded everything to the website due to some complications. I actually have 2 sets of motors and 2 center console with switches.

I would love to have a nicer website, its just the fact that there aren't that many people buying festiva parts and I don't make much money selling parts. A nicely designed website would probably cost more than my profit in a year.
