painting grey bumper?

i have a 93 L and was wondering if i could paint the grey plastic bumper? would it even keep from flaking off. i know NOTHING about painting a car.

preperation is the most important part of painting. if you sand, prime, and paint, wait proper time for paint to dry than you could get away with using good spray paint.

Don't waste your time with the Bondo brand bumper black ,it is a black gel.
It says it last for 6 mos ????
I think mine lasted maybe 7 days .
It looked great ,then it just started peeling off. The surface was prepped and clean .

If i'm not mistaken they have an additive to put in the paint so u can paint the bumbers, it keeps the paint flexible

get a can of black (or w.e. color you want) rustoleum paint, thin it and put it on w/ a roller as in the 50 dollar paint job (search for it; i did it to my car, matt posted the first link to it)
BUT, when you do it on the bumpers here are the steps:
-remove bumper (dur)
-wash real well
-after dry, wipe down w/ mineral spirits
-roll the paint on AS THIN as you can. if your making it black this works best; if your doing it some other color it may not work as well. ONLY use one coat. the idea is, the thinner the paint on the bumper, the better it will flex.
look for the pix of my car after the accident. the front bumper was twisted/ripped/etc. more paint came off the other guys car than off my bumper!! the only place the paint came off was where it was actualy in contact; the places that were just twisted did NOT flake at all!!

as soon as i ahve a lil more time i'll make up a how to for the whole car i hope..
