Would have taken me a 72 hour round trip!!! I know it's gone to a good home.

What really is the weight difference between stock and a fiberglass hood?

Further, if I add the question, I recall back in the 90'same when people did hood, fenders, and grill as one whole shell. How much weight would this take off? Does anyone here already do this? And of course cost?

Saving weight with a festiva would be difficult with fiberglass. Have you ever felt the fenders and hood on a Festiva? They are very light. I'm willing to bet the fiberglass hood might actually weight more than the stock steel hood.

I would almost bet money they are close. Thin metal and lighter thicker fiberglass, at least not enough that you would notice.

Maybe i'll weigh them when I swap out to the GTX hood I have

The fiberglass hood would do better in a hail storm.

IIRC the FB hood was 11#. but then add the weight of whatever fastening method you use to hold it down. but then too this could be offset by eliminating the hinges and hood latch and cable release. or re-purpose cable release to be a brake parachute release. but then add again weight of chute.

Or have the hood open and act like a chute. Lol
